I told him my price range (both preferred price range and absolute cap after taxes, title, etc) as well as my required amenities vs. optional ones. He shared his opinions (I asked him, wanting to hear what he thought) and he relayed this information to the salespeople before securing the keys for our test drives.
The financials necessary to secure my auto loan were my responsibility but he shared his great instincts of expected monthly payments and other data. I didn't have to waste too much of my Saturdays, as Tom mapped out the route between dealerships and contacted a salesperson ahead of time, and didn't have to research too many vehicles, as Tom knew them all already. Tom has twice proven to be a huge help with this big decision of buying a car.
